Homemade Condensed Milk
Ingredients:
Milk powder - 1/2 cup - Use Nestle or Amulya for best taste
Icing Sugar/Powdered Sugar - 1/4 cup - Sift it for no lumps
Water - 1/4 cup - Hot water works faster
Butter - 1.5 tbsp - Unsalted preferred
Method:
Prep dry ingredients: Sift milk powder + icing sugar together in a mixer jar to avoid lumps.
Add butter: Add 1.5 tbsp soft butter to the mixer jar with dry ingredients.
Boil water: Boil 1/4 cup water until bubbles appear. Turn off flame.
Blend: Add hot water slowly to mixer while blending. Blend 2-3 minutes till smooth, thick, pourable consistency.
Cool & Store: Cool completely. Store in clean airtight glass jar in refrigerator for 5-7 days.
Notes: Sweetened Condensed Milk is thicker and richer than store-bought. Perfect for desserts, tea, coffee, kheer, barfi.
Notes & Tips:
Milk powder brand matters: Use Nestle or Amulya. Local brands make condensed milk taste flat.
No lumps trick: Always sift milk powder + icing sugar before blending. Sifting = smooth texture.
Water level control: Start with 1/8 cup hot water, blend, then add remaining 1/8 cup. Prevents watery condensed milk.
Consistency fix: If too thick after cooling, add 1 tsp hot water and mix. If too thin, add 1 tbsp milk powder and blend again.
Storage: Keeps well for 5-7 days in fridge in airtight glass jar. Not suitable for long shelf life like canned milk. No stove method: This is a no-cook recipe. Heat is only for water, so it’s faster and safer than boiling milk for hours.
