Ingredients for Ginger Nuts Biscuits
- Maida - 1.5 cup (150 grams)
- Brown sugar - ½ cup (100 grams)
- Butter - ¼ cup (50 grams)
- Golden syrup - 2 tbsp
- Powdered sugar - 1 tbsp
- Ginger powder - 1 tsp
- Baking powder - ½ tsp
- Baking soda - ¼ tsp
- Clove - 4
- Green cardamom - 4
- Nutmeg - 2 pinch
How to make Gingernuts Cookies
Take melted butter in any big utensil. Add golden syrup and brown sugar in melted butter and mix nicely it becomes puffy.
Add baking powder, baking soda and ginger paste in maida and strain it with sieve twice.
Take clove, nutmeg and peeled cardamom and make powder.
Add maida mixture and powder spices in butter-sugar mixture and mix well. Knead it hard dough. If the dough appears to be dry add 2-3 tsp milk and knead hard dough. Dough for making ginger nuts is ready
Grease baking tray with butter. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Take 1 part and roll it. Like wise prepare all balls and keep them in the tray. Now take 1 ball and flatten it with your palm giving it a shape of cookies and place it back on the tray. Flatten al balls and place them at distance.
Preheat oven at 180 degree centigrade and place cookies in oven for baking. Bake for 10 minute on 180 degree centigrade. Check after 10 minutes. If you find that they are not baked properly then bake for 2 minutes more and again check them with a knife, if you still find that the cookies are not baked bake for 2 minutes more. It takes 10-14 minutes to bake the cookies (time variations may occur in different ovens).
Ginger nuts are now ready, place, place them on a net so that they become cool quickly. Once the ginger nuts are cooled down completely they are ready to eat. Store ginger nuts in air tight container and enjoy eating for up to 2 months.
